Surfmat – New Grip – Number 24

Purple Haze 70D Top, 70D Bottom, 70D internals Welp another square one, actually a rectangle. This one I threw together for Shanlla, flat rocker, pulled in length, and tried closing off the ventilation as much as possible to make a stable stable stable mat. The grip is newish, looking around at other methods of dying the Sika. For whatever reason what i mixed in kicked off the curing fast and I ended up causing some unwanted clumps. Regardless i like the purple/metallic color produced. Other things,…

Surfmat – More Rail Shapes – Number 23

Cadillac 70D Top, 70D Bottom, 70D/210D transition internals Hey all its been a little bit. Got another mat here with all the bells and whistles (Also sorry the thing is upside down in the first two images). The lower profile of the outer pontoons (rails I guess) varies along the length of the mat. Awhile back I took out mat 15 (the one with the v shaped rails) at rye rocks and noticed it was easy to engage drifts but overall it was uncontrollable. Design thought…

Surfmat – Mixing Things Up – Number 22

American Dream 210 6.6 Top, 70D Bottom, 210 Internal Another square one in the quiver. Was messing around with weave orientation and rib structure to produce rocker, I think we got an 8th of an inch from center to nose and tail. That ain’t much I know but don’t you know size don’t matter? Might need to go a little more drastic to hopefully produce something noticeable. Color scheme perfect for fourth of July weekend See ya later!

Long Hand Plane – Rib Experiment – Number 21

Wine bag 500D top, 70D bottom, 210 Internal What is this? I don’t know man. Had some scraps left over from the last coffin mat I made that seemed a bit too narrow to make a hand plane. So… I made a hand plane, just long. Hand plane the long way. 30″ long and 11″ wide uninflated Changed the rib profile as well but with the 500D think the stiffness ate up all the influence. Will attempt to surf when no ones looking.

Surfmat – Meow – Number 20

Pink cheetah 210D Deck, 70D Bottom, 210D Internals This one is class. The pink cheetah. Or panther? Got some hot looking dye, and its pink. Gonna look baller pulling up to the local with this one. A couple swells ago I paddled out at one of my favorite spots Monahans. Yeah okay “don’t blow up the spot”, dog you can see the fucking wave from the road. Anyways, I always tell myself when surfing here “don’t surf the wave in front of the dock on a…

Surfmat – Asym – Number 19

Asym 70D Deck/Hull/Internal Wow look at that, another mat! This mat was fueled by Cambodian rock. Not really its filled with air but I listened to it for eight hours straight while making it. Thought process was the same as Mat 13, longer/typical rail length of 48″ for surfing right handed points like Judith or Fox hill while having a shorter opposite rail ~38″ for quicker adjustments yada yada yada. No wings tho, I’m still on the fence on their contribution to the outline and really…

Surfmat – Shiny – Number 18

Silver Top, Gold Bottom, 210D Internal Heyo, I’m back with another mat (and she purty). Cut from a similar cloth as the other reflective mat, just pure silver and gold. Despite what y’all are thinking, no its not actual gold. The material is a little bit thicker than the other reflective mat (Mat 12: 2mm , this one: 2.5 mm) and of course the material is a bitch to build with. I was excited to get this thing my into ever growing mat quiver but i…

Surfmat – Coffin – Number 17

Coffin 70D Hull, 500D top, 210D Internal I ordered the beefy green 500D nylon fabric awhile back before my falling out with extremtextil. Been thinking about this one for a bit, will be my “use and abuse mat” for big big days probably ending up as a sacrificial offering to the rocky coast Exaggerated pulled in tail giving it that coffin outline and finally got the rib placement right on this one. Anyways, new logo everyone say “wow pretty cool tough guy connor” and messing around…

Alas, a solution to logos?

I might’ve mentioned before but Ive been looking around and thinking of ways to make my logos look a bit more professional. I am in the boat where I don’t really like logos, don’t want to force a design on someone. But I think these are cool. Screen printing worked well, I used a plastisol ink but it would stain every article of clothing i was wearing, in addition to my bathtub, sink and table. Durability wise plastisol is fine for now following a handful of…

Surfmat – Trout – Number 16

Go fish 70D hull, 210D top and internals————————————————————- For this one I wanted to take a normal mat outline and take away material to create the wings rather than adding them like I did earlier. Similar to the asym mat, I made the wings a little too small. Nose to wing length around 46” inflated, middle pontoon is about 30”-35” give or take. (Sorry don’t got my lil notebook on me) This mat is basically a belly board, when in riding position the middle pontoon goes…
